This is the 2nd of 3 Reverend style guitars I built in this batch. This was supposed to be the best of the 3 but it actually turned out to be the worst of the bunch. I’m not sure exactly why but I must have been a little off with the routing and needed to re-shape the pickguard to make it fit correctly. I also could have done a little better with the finish.

Specs:

  • Neck: Maple with 12-inch radius maple fretboard, finished with Tung Oil
  • Nut: GuitarFetish (plastic)
  • Frets: Jescar FW55090 (equivalent to Dunlop 6105)
  • Tuners: GuitarFetish
  • Body: Alder with flame maple top
  • Pickups: GuitarFetish standard Tele neck, GuitarFetish Metal Foil in bridge
  • Bridge: Wilkinson
  • Finish: Hand-rubbed dye. Honey in back, purple burst in front Hand-applied Crystalac BriteTone water-based poly

The Reverend style guitars all have belly cutouts and arm contours and are extremely comfortable to hold. They build them with binding on the top and that’s something I’d like to try soon but definitely not for tops with arm contours as my first build with binding. Reverend Guitars also have what they call a “bass contour knob” which I think is similar to what G&L has with their tone control, but more versatile as it allows you to shape the bass on top of the ability to adjust the tone. Anyway, I didn’t create mine with this feature as the wiring is something I’d need to research to figure out.

The one thing I think I can definitively say is that I won’t be using the GuitarFetish tuners again. They were defective so I had them send me replacements and they had the same problem.
